About OM

The Office of Management (OM) is located within the office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is responsible for NIH-wide administration and management.

The OM Provides:

  • leadership, direction, and oversight to diverse organizations at NIH in budget and finance, human resources, management assessment and policy, program integrity, contract, procurement, and logistics, engineering services, safety, space, facility management, support services, and security operations
  • a wide range of services to the NIH community -- from ID cards, events management, shuttle services, and child care to lab and radiation safety, medical illustration, scientific equipment, library services (and more)
  • financial advisory, policy, accounting, and reporting support to internal and external stakeholders
  • diligence for ensuring compliance with legislative and external policy mandates

OM

The OM is led by the Deputy Director for Management (DDM) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The DDM advises the NIH Director, Deputy Director, and Institutes and Centers (ICs) on all aspects of NIH administrative management. The DDM also serves as a liaison to multiple external organizations, including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Inspector General, the Office of Personnel Management, the White House Office of Management and Budget, and Congressional staff.
